28218. Mark Hopkins
Mark came out to our home to unblock an outside drain. He fixed the problem quickly and expained what had caused it and how we could avoid it in future. Weve had a number of people out to work on our house as we only moved in recently, and Mark was by far the most friendly & helpful of all of them. Clearly excellent at his job, and a very nice guy as well. Thanks!

I would like to nominate the guy who installed my water meter today 22/11/12 (order no 14778966). I didnt get his name but he was the best home engineer I have spoken to (ever). Very polite and answered all the questions I asked however stupid they were. He told me exactly what I needed to know and more. When i asked him he even explained how the meter works due to the way they fit them now, and the advancements in meter reading. He left the job tidy and gave me all the relevant info I needed. I dont normally fill things like this in but he was an all round nice guy and you should be proud that he is a face of yorkshire water.

28271. Mr. Gary Popplewell
Our water flow had been reducing over a fortnight or so and we had a prompt and efficient service from the first YW staff member who came out after we reported our problem. He identified that, as we had had a new wireless reader meter fitted recently, a check was needed by a plumber to see if a blockage had formed as a result of this. Mr.Popplewell came out and over two hours work discovered that this was indeed the case. However he found out that unknown to us we had THREE stopcocks! One of these was located behind a fitted kitchen unit that had to be removed with great difficulty as it was jammed tight. The other was located behind a wall panel that could not be removed and was also under the first step of the staicase! Gary had to work in a very cramped and difficult area to remove taps/parts that were fitted right beside the brickwork and scrapped his hands in a determined effort to release/undo fittings that were jammed tight and extremely hard to access. At times he was working by feel alone. He is clearly a dedicated problem solver and was not going to be defeated by our ancient and totally inappropriate plumbing system. We were shocked to see what a lousy job had been done when the kitchen had been redesigned over two decades ago, and were totally impressed by Garys skill and efforts to sort it out. He was careful not to damage any of the lino/carpet/cabinet/wall fittings which we thought would have been inevitable. So a huge thank you from us to Gary for his outstanding performance which came towards the end of a long shift - he left us about 20.00 to go on to another job on the other side of West Yorkshire!

Ref: 109 Curly Hill, Ilkley I was keeping an eye on my friends house as they were taking an extended holiday. A leakage ocurred and the two people above attended. They quickly identified where the problem was and proceeded to make good. Despite tricky ground conditions they made the repair and backfilled the trenches with the absolute minimum of damage to the lawn and other areas. It was a job well doneRodger Clark

28432. Nathan Clayton
On Sunday 25th Nov our toilet and outside drains were block by sewage. Rang YW to report who rang back to say you were pulled out and could not get to me unti Mon. I explained that on Fri 23rd Nov my husband who is terminally ill had been sent home because his immune systems was so bad it was felt he was safer from infections at home rather than on the ward. Imagine my panic on seeing toilet etc in such a state. Lady said she would do her best to get someone out to me that day but could not promise which meant if not cleared he would have to go back into hospital. Nathan Clayton arrived around 6.- 6-30pm on been told of my situation he was just wonderful reasurring me he would not leave me until it was sorted. He had quite a job on about 1 - 2 hours later he came to tell me it was all cleared. It was dark cold and wet this young man was just so wonderful he could see how worried I was. Please please make sure he knows how thankful I am to him and to Yorkshire Water for getting out to me as soon as you could under what must have been very difficult and busy circumstances. Thank you Paulinr Beckwith

28459. Martin Eaton
On the day of the call-out (10/11/2012), I received a text AND a voice message to indicate the approximate time that the engineer was due to arrive, to sort out my blocked drains. Martin Eaton arrived earlier than indicated, he was extremely efficient and thorough with EVERY part of the clean-up process. The problem was soon resolved with little fuss. He used the camera, which I thought was amazing. Having found the problem he jetted the drains clean, replaced the man hole cover, then disinfected the whole area. I would definitely nominate Martin for a WOW Award as, nothing phased him, he was very professional and accurate, with his work - even on a Saturday. Well Done & Thank You. Graham Wood. Job No: 14869656.
