Its hard to pick out a single carer at the Meadows each being a friendly and caring person, but Debbie seems to stand out above the others this being because she is never without a smile or a laugh for the patients and their visitors. Nothing seems to be to much trouble for Debbie which i think we all apreciate.But thanks to all the staff for looking after my mother Ethel Brough.

We had never had any experience in care homes so we were very worried about leaving Freda but as soon as we arrived the staff were all very nice and keen to put all our worries aside. The house is a lovely bright and happy place to come. Well have no reservations about sending Freda again. A big thank you to all.

This lady has been first class for me. My being 82 years old and needing some care after having 2 hip replacements and 5 other operations. Liz Barratt was quick to give information and help if needed, because I could not get into my bath due to my replacements. I am very much indebted to her for arranging me a bathroom (wet room) so I would like to thank her once more.

I am writing to you to let you know how much I appreciate the work and care your staff have given to me these last few weeks. I would not have been able to do what I have done without their help. I have enjoyed going for dinner and to visit Forest Park it was lovely and I also appreciate them taking me shopping, especially for my wedding clothes and taking me out on the scooter they have a lot of patience. Please thank Rob and the ladies for me. I know I have not finished with you yet but it cant be far off, thank you all.

My first contact with Lynn was amazing. My Mum had just been admitted for 2 weeks respite care at Marrow House,Longton, and Lynn was bringing my Mum out of the bathroom having just given her a bath. On seeing me she immediately asked if I wanted a cup of tea whilst I settled Mum into her room. I was absolutely shocked to think that this person, who had not seen me before,and had just spent time helping Mum to bathe (not an easy task as she can be quite grumpy when asked to move around some) and Lynn was quite prepared to make me a cup of tea. Since then I have seen Lynn always treating the patients with dignity and respect and being very attentive to the patients wants and needs. She always goes the extra mile to make the patients happy and reassures relatives that their vulnerable family member is confident and relaxed in their current environment. She is incredibly supportive and nothing is too much trouble. Wonderful service and a credit to the care home!

Nothing is too much trouble, he does his job without putting pressure on the person he is caring too. He taugh me how to use the computer in a matter of weeks, yet when I first came I was very nervous of the computer and the staff, he put me at ease, I cannot praise him and the other staff enough for help received.

All the staff at Marrow House are all worthy of this award but Lynn was very attentive in her caring to my husband, he bonded with her and she took to him she is so pleasant and nothing was too much trouble for her to do. My husband was very apprehensive to go into respite but he has no hesitation to go there again.

After I had my 5th child I got post natal depression and if it wasnt for the family suppport team I dont know what I would of done. I was finding it very hard to cope and when I was at my lowest they helped me. I knew I could approach them to talk to when times were hard they have taken me to hospital appointments and helped me with personnel problems if it wasnt for them I dont know how I would of coped. They have helped me recover from depression and even helped me with my confidence by engouraging me to join the group they have in the week for all families to meet and by joining a fitness group that has helped me to look after myself. They have helped me to realise that I am just as important as my children I am truly grateful to all of them for their support because if they were not around I dont know how I would of managed to care for my kids properly.

Just a few words to say one big thanks to William, who works in Tunstall Library. In September I needed help to access the US Embassy Visa Line to arrange my Visa. I started in September, then again in October, then again in February eventually I got my appointment through at the US Embassy all thanks to William and here I am visiting my sister, a trip I really never thought I would make because the US Embassy is only accessible on the computer and I could not use the computer very well, but William willingly gave me a hand and made sure I was on the right page. So I feel I have to tell you it is good to know there are still people who will help. So I have to let you know how valuable his help was to me.

From the moment Stella walked into my home, she put me at my ease. She was respectful and caring. She suggested ways of improving my mobility with the aid of various appliances. I attended a funeral at Carmountside on 18/5/10. I was wandering around unsure where to go when a workman, who was busy working,looked up and asked if we were alright and could he help. He directed me to my Aunts internment and afterwards we were looking for my sister-in-law grave as we had lost our way due to being upset. Without hesitation, he rang someone on his mobile phone and then didnt simply point to the grave, he considerately walked with us to the graveside. He was a young man but showed a lot of care beyond his years (along with my cousin Mr A Bentley who was also impressed with him) and we definitely think this caring young man is a worthy to be nominated for a WOW Award.
