Recent Nominations

I would like to nominate Kay because she is a wonderful person. If you need any help Kay will always be there for you. Kay will go anywhere if you are not well and take time for you no matter what. I think that Kay deserves to win, she has a heart of gold.

In connection with the work I do for the Police authority I was anxious to read the Lord Justice Scarman Report on the Brixton riots of 1981. Although these were not immediately to hand, Richard Byatt searched diligently until eventually he produced a copy of its discussion in Hansard. He was tireless in his determination to provide the subject of my enquiry with inordinate persistence. He represents to me all that is good and conscious of the needs of the public. Stoke-on-Trent is fortunate to have an officer of his calibre.

Because the service was great and very helpful, very good indeed.

Cath has gone the extra mile. She has helped me significantly and has worked with me to facilitate all of my domestic and disabled requirements and needs. She has not only been very professional but has treated me with respect and compassion and I am eternally grateful for this and for her fun sense of humour.

I think Sharon, Pearl and Becki all deserve a wow award for the help and support they gave me to help me complete my NVQ level 3 in Business Admin. No matter how much work they had to do they were always there to support me and answer any questions I had. They played a huge part in helping me to learn new tasks on reception. I just wanted to say thank you to them for all the support they gave me they are fantastic.

As a single mum of 5 I really wanted to gain a qualification but was at a loss of how I would achieve this but thanks to the wonderful support I received off Michelle it became a reality. Michelle gave me a volunteer placement on reception and was always there to offer me support and help me in any way she could. I wanted to nominate her for a WOW! Award because she played a huge role in helping me to achieve my NVQ level 3 in Business Admin and just saying thank you didnt seem enough. Michelle is a wonderful person and is always there to help us parents in anyway she can and she believes in us all and helps us to achieve our full potential.

I would really like to nominate The Meadows itself for an award because it gave me excellent care throughout my stay. It is a place where the elderly are treated with care and respect and this is what many places are lacking. The staff are a great team and Dawn is a great asset in that team. Well done The Meadows!

I would like to nominate Mrs Brown for a WOW! Award because she guided me through the process of changing details over my late fathers name and into mums, plus she sorted out the rental arrears which had been a huge worry as mum is waiting to be made a permanent resident in a nursing home. Mrs Brown was kind, helpful and knowledgable. I left the office feeling like a burden had been lifted.

Jill, Sarah and Sarah continue to give an excellent service to all the people entering the reception of Westfield Childrens Centre. They are a fabulous team, always professional and always friendly. They are an absolute credit to Westfield Childrens Centre and they City Council.

William went the extra mile in being helpful to both me and my brother in explaining and helping us on the library system on several occasions which we both would like to express our gratitude.

Over the past twelve months I have had problems with my drains - they overflowed with waste/raw sewage into the neighbour’s gardens and into mine. It also backed up into the house via the toilets. A contractor was sent out and my drain had collapsed that was facilitating the raw sewage being blocked and coming back up my drains into my bathroom and leaking into my garden. This was obviously unacceptable with a young child. Over the next 6 months Lee worked tirelessly to try and resolve the situation. At all times Lee kept in informed of the progress he had made. He eventually managed to resolve the situation and have the drains removed and any damaged to my property rectified. He was professional, helpful and very supportive. As I’m sure you can appreciate living with raw sewage for nearly 12 months in my property was extremely distressing. Well done Lee! I really appreciate all of the help and assistance you gave and you certainly went above and beyond you role to help resolve this situation. You are a credit to the Council; I wish there were more people like you that worked there. Thank you!

I would like to nominate Sandra because she has been of great help and comfort to me during the last few months as Ive been trying to get access to my grandchildren and thanks to her help and advice I was succesfully in my having access to the children. I owe her a great deal and couldnt have done it with out her.

Richard was extremely sympathetic towards my situation and worked out every which way he could possibly help. He was very knowledgeable and made me feel confident that my problem was being solved. He really did go the extra mile to help me and he is an absolute asset to the company. He was so pleasant!

I want to thank Waj for his support and advice. He assisted me to set up my home, and I am no longer at risk of losing my home. I have found him to be approachable. Thanks again and a high 5.

She was very friendly, and greatly helped me sort out my housing benefit and council tax. She was professional and informed and did every thing possible to make sure that my problem was dealt with swiftly and efficiently. I was extremely impressed with the level of service she provided, which was greater than other advisers I had previously seen. I would highly recommend her for a WOW award.

Dianne has kindly helped me to contact a lost relative in Cheadle. All I had was a name and personal details of DOB and parents. Within 24 hours she found the gentlman, contacted him, and passed on the relevant details. I found her attitude to be very friendly, extremely accommodating, and very professional in the way she ensured the privacy of her client whilst conducting the investigation by assertaining the precise reason for the contact, and the veracity of my enquiry. Not only has her work helped my search, but also put her client in touch with a cousin in Australia who asked for my help in tracing him. Well done. I was gob smacked at the speed and efficiency of the response!

Debra came to visit my mum and myself to help with putting in a claim for Attendance Allowance for my mum following her recent discharge from hospital. Debra was extremely knowledgeable, kind and very importantly, easy to talk to. She visited outside her usual working hours, which was much appreciated although we didn’t request this and it was at Debras suggestion. Debra also arranged for a number Occupational Therapists to contact mum and she has been able to arrange for a number of home aids to be fitted, which are very useful. My mums claim for attendance allowance was successful and went through very quickly and without any difficulty. We are both extremely grateful to Debra for all her help and advice.

My Auntie Irene was there on respite and when I arrived unexpected, I found her happy and content, well looked after and she looked clean and tidy. The staff were talking to other people and making the environment a happy relaxed place where I wouldnt mind going myself.

Excellent service, very understanding and good service.

When my brother Leslie Hulme was admitted to the Meadows, I was a little apprehensive and anxious, but I neednt have been. The staff have been wonderful, fantastic I honestly couldnt single one out because as a team they have served him extremely well, nothing is too much trouble, whatever he has wanted they are there reassuring him that there is no need to worry, which gives me and him peace of knowing he is well looked after. The staff are si friendly to relatives. The place is so beautifully clean and smells lovely. A big thank you to all staff at the Meadows. Leslie says the cook deserves a WOW award because the food is beautiful, what more could you ask for.

The kindness and support from The Meadows staff and management regarding the care and rehab my aunt recieved throughout her stay was a totally postive experience. We are very pleased with the outcome and the proffesionalsm that you all work at is at such a high level. Many thanks.

As she gave me options regarding moving to a new home. Offered lots of help and support, filled in forms, I now live in a lovely new sheltered flat, it was all done very quickly and I am so happy with the outcome. She took lots of thought and time to explain everything to me and I am so grateful to her for everything she has done. Thank you so much.

You looked after me so well, you help me to find a new home amd got me well enough to move in, got me support to go home with. Thank you so much everyone, words can not express how very grateful I am.

I want to thank Waj for his support. He has provided me with a excellent service. After years of trying to move due to my disability, I felt no one was listening to me and I lost my trust with the city council. Within one and a half months Waj has helped me to find a bungalow that meets my disability needs. He has made me feel that I have been heard and renewed my trust with the city council. Thanks again for your support.

Julie was efficient in her work, pleasant and very likeable. She waited for us to understand her explainations to what she was reading. She managed to get me another bath a week from when I asked. I was pleased with Julie and wouldnt hesitate to contact her if ever I had a query.

I dont know how I would have managed without the support I had from the rehabilitaion team when I came home from hospital. The girls have been fantastic and helpful. They treated me with respect and dignity. They have built my confidence. They all deserve a medal.

They helped me gain my confidence when I first came home from hospital. I now feel I can manage on my own.

Kevan was extremely helpful and patient and resolved my matter promptly. A very good communicator and made the issue easy to understand! Thank you very much!

I came in very worried about an issue with housing benefit and council tax and the named nominee was very helpful, professional and reassuring. The service given was clear and quick and everything explained so I left feeling much better and with more information. Thank you.

Julie has helped us more than our social worker shes one of the best workers Ive ever had. Im sad shes leaving and will miss her and the support and help shes given me and my children. Its a shame theres not a lot more people about like Julie.

I found the home to have excellent catering and consideration towards the people they look after and extremely helpful. Its nice to know that such places do exist.

This gentleman works so hard, trying to keep Stoke Town Centre tidy. The square outisde the library is always disgusting in the mornings - beer cans etc and he just cleans up - smile on his face. He is a credit to us all. Thank you Fred.

From day one Vicky was superb, she supported mum and dad with all their care needs, helping them to remain together, helping in their ongoing care package and refering them on to other support networks. Vicky is the ultimate professional she is a credit to Stoke-on-Trent City Council, an outstanding lady. I cant praise her enough, without her support I dont think I would have coped.

St Michaels House is a excellent rehab unit. The entire staff were total professionals. The care, kindness, support in helping my mum and dad was first class. It helped them so much in aiding their return to independant living. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. A wonderful unit, Stoke-on-Trent should be proud of St Michaels.

Without Deb I would have have struggled. She Gave me financial advice, supplies me with names of people who could help me in house clearance, buying of new furniture, i.e. beds for their new home etc. She arranged and took my parents to view Berry Hill Village and was instrumental in helping them to stay independent. She is a total professional credit to Age UK, a wonderful lady who was a brick at all times. Totally outstanding.

Because without Hayleys help and personal tollerance of work thats required to be done with regards to us having a wet room installed and our kitchen completely re-vamped. She has put my mother and myself before her own lunch breaks when we have been ill. She has certainly been partly responsible for a huge improvement towards my mother and myself obtaining a much better quality of life. Hayley has a brilliant and friendly attitude towards people and is definately a great asset to her employers. Nothing is too much trouble for her and her help to all is exemplary.

They work very hard and always happy.

This lady treated me with the utmost respect, did not embarrass me in any way, was very courtious and conducted my interview very privately and calmly. I am very satisfied with the help I have been given today and very pleased I made the decision to apply. With respect.

WHAT CAN I SAY ABOUT THIS AMAZING LADY? WELL SHES JUST BRILLIANT SHE HAS TAUGHT MY DAUGHTER AND ALL OTHER CHILDREN IN 6J WITH SUCH ENTHUSIASM AND ENERGY THAT THEY WILL REMEMBER HER FOR YEARS TO COME SHES NOT ONLY BOUGHT THEM ON VERY WELL ACADEMICALLY BUT THE CARE AND ATTENTION SHE SHOWS THEM AND TREATING THEM ALL AS INDIVIDUALS HER ENCOURAGEMENT HAS BOUGHT THEM ON SO MUCH SOCIALLY EVERY CHILD LOVES HER AND WANTED TO DO WELL NOT JUST FOR THEMSELVES BUT TO MAKE HER PROUD TO SHES LAUGHED WITH THEM CRIED WITH THEM AND OF COURSE DISAPLINNED THEM SHES SUCH A WONDERFUL LADY AND I CAN SAY FOR MY OWN DAUGHTER SHE HAS LEFT A LASTING IMPRESSION THAT WILL HELP HER THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL, THANK YOU MISS JENNINGS FROM EMILY, JULIE AND DAVID MAY YOU HAVE A LONG AND FULFILLED CAREER XX

She was very helpful and explained everything in detail, she put me at ease in a most daunting environment.

She is always there to help when we need her. Worries about how we are and makes sure that we arrive at our courses on time. She is a role model to us all and gets us motivated encourages when we feel like giving up.

I find the staff very kind, caring and pleasant, they are always there when they say they will be and dont take all of my independence away as they just guide me through day to day things, which makes me feel better about myself.

They are so cheerful and caring I look forward to my weekly outing. I am never made to feel as if I am a burden to them and they always seem to be smiling and happy. Their patience helps me to feel relaxed.

The help and support that I have had has been priceless. Courses have helped me with my children. Community development provide fun days and day trips.

All the staff are wonderful, the facilities and services are fab.

It has helped me to have confidence and I have met lots of new people from here. I feel very comfortable here too.

It is a god send for me and my family. The staff have helped me absolutely loads. If it wasnt here I wouldnt have my children living with me, I have used most of the services that are available including triple p, play and stay, nursery, creche, maths and English course, smoking cessation, cook n eat.
