10460. The Day Rehabilitation Team
I was doing nothing before starting on the rehab programme, I was feeling very down and unhappy. I was shown two places to go for lunch and two places to play bowls, which I used to play a long time ago. I have met some very nice people and I am now getting out of the house. I am doing things now that I havent done for a long time. I am building my energy and confidence back up playing bowls, getting taxis and doing my own shopping. I thank all of the rehab team for their help and care.

10461. The Day Rehabilitation Team
I was in and out of hospital for 6 months. The care that I received in all the hospitals was first class. On returning home I had the support from the carers from St Michaels. This team supported me to become independant in regaining my daily living skills. This service again was first class. I then entered on to the day rehab service to support me to regain my confidence and be independant at accessing local activities. I felt at first that I could not be bothered to go out. But with support from the rehab staff I was introduced to local groups and supported to purchase a 3 wheeled walker to help me to feel safer when walking out in the community. My mobility improved and I felt more confident out on my own. I attend two local groups on Tuesday, that is the Salvation Army Luncheon Club and Wednesday, Tunstall Methodist social and lunch group. I am now able to use a taxi on my own to attend these activities. I walk to my local hairdressers which I used to do before my illness on my own. The most important achievement of all was being able to go to Tunstall Market and to have my lunch at the cafe across from the market, this is what I did every Friday. I am now able to do this on my own. I have also been to Hanley Market using a taxi on my own and plan to go to Newcastle this Friday again on my own. I would not have been able to achieve this without the support and encouragement from all the rehab team. I would not be as confident as I am now. Thanking you. Especially Linda who worked with me most of the time.

10298. Patrick Quinn and Susan Moran
I want to thank both Susan Moran and especially Patrick Quinn for helping both me and my wife when I lost my keys in Longton. I called at the office to see if I could get a change of locks but Susan asked Patrick to see if he could get us in to the bungalow, as my daughter who had spare keys was not at home and would be returning late that day. Patrick tried to get us into the bungalow but could not, but he rang the office and spoke to Susan again. Both Patrick and Susan rang another daughter to see if we could go there until my daughter who had the keys returned from her day out. Patrick was very helpful as he drove to my daughters twice to make sure everything was alright and took our shopping there as we were unable to manage it. I want to thank Patrick for his care and thoughtfulness in helping us.

10297. Ann-Marie Berry and the Marrow House Team
When we had to admit our relative, Edna, although we were apprehensive Ann-Marie was caring and understanding, she explained everything in great detail and put us at our ease. She kept us informed of her progress and we were invited to coffee mornings etc. Nothing was too much trouble for all the staff who were very friendly and caring. Edna came on in leaps and bounds during her stay, in fact she was a changed person. The food and standard of hygiene was 100%. We were always greeted warmly on our visits by all the staff and were included in the activities. All members of staff were highly professional. The only regret that we have is that there were no permanent beds available. I would say that anyone who is lucky enough to stay at Marrow House is very privileged and I would have no hesitation of recommending Marrow House for any award going!

10296. Dawn Morley and the Shelton Pool Team
Year in, year out everyone is consistently helpful, kind, polite and generally lovely towards myself. I am in a wheelchair and need the use of the hoist - nothing is too much trouble for them. It is a pleasure to come and without this service (although we do pay) my condition and health would rapidly decline. Thanks to one and all. Please stay open.

10370. Carol Hudson
Carol is always tuned in to the personal interests of the residents at Marrow House. I watched Carol taking a short stay resident around the garden whilst he watered the flowers. She showed him what to do and where to get more water from and he spent the next hour enjoying tending to the shrubs and flowers by himself. It was heart warming to see. Lovely.
