15140. Christine Orr
I am writing to give my sincere thanks regarding Christine Ore. Christine has been out to see both myself and my husband who in return turn has received care from yourselves since 30 May 2011. Christine has been one of the most professional, caring and totally committed individuals I have had the pleasure of dealing with since my husband was taken ill in March 2011. After a long stay in hospital he was discharged on 20 May and at first received care from another company as an intermediate measure until your company became involved. I was so impressed by your service I managed to get in touch with Christine regarding respite care which will be needed for my husband when I have to go in to hospital for a hip replacement. Upon meeting her I instantly felt reassured by her knowledge and expertise within this field and total professional manner in which she has dealt with my enquiries and probing questions regarding my husbands well being during this difficult time. I feel Christine is an unrivalled asset to your company and would like this letter passed on to the highest level possible.

14460. Andy Edwards, Karen Deaville, Caroline Casey, The Bereavement Care Team and The Grounds Maintenance Team
On behalf of Hartshill and Harpfields Residents Association I should like to place on record our appreciation of the City Councils Bereavement Care Services. Over the nearly 17 years since we were established we have had many dealings with the service as Stoke (Hartshill) Cemetery is located within our catchment area and is highly valued and much used local amenity. As a Residents Association we have contact with many individual officers, sections and services of the City Council and have found Bereavement Care Services to be one of the very best departments to deal with. In our experience BCS officers are helpful, friendly and human, courteous, knowledgeable and professional. They respond promptly and positively to contact - the telephone is answered quickly and politely, email are replied to often immediately and almost always within the same day. Requests for action on certain problems within the cemetery, to arrange a meeting with residents, to provide information about the service etc are consistently met with a cheerful response and a can do attitude. Even when they are not able to immediately rectify a situation or a perceived deficiency of the service the staff provide a proper explanation of why something cant happen, or offer an alternative, or say when it can be done, and this is very much appreciated. We feel we have established a good working relationship with certain key individuals within BCS and this has been an important factor in the high level of satisfaction we have with the service. Andy Edwards was for a long while the person we liaised with. He showed all the qualities mentioned above and had a particularly pleasant personality which made contact with him most enjoyable. When he moved posts earlier this year we much appreciated him contacting the Association to tell us this fact and to say goodbye - a simple thing to do, but a good example of how human relations can work well. Karen Deaville and Caroline Casey have both been extremely efficient, kind and helpful. They say we are here to help you, to be of service to you and they mean it. All the BCS Officers we have encountered seem sincerely committed to their work and are really excellent ambassadors for the Council, meeting the public as they do at what is often a very stressful and distressing time for them. We would also like to thank the staff who undertake the grounds maintenance of Stoke Cemetery for the good job that they do, at present under rather difficult circumstances, and likewise the monumental masons who have done such a very fine job of the lawn graves border conversion programme over the past few years. Collectively, the whole team clearly do their very best to maintain the cemetery in the attractive, peaceful and dignified state that bereaved visitors and the general public wish to see. Please convey our thanks and congratulations to Bereavement Care Services. We look forward to working productively with them for many more years to come.
