Recent Nominations for NHSCDD http://www.thewowawardswebs.co.uk/nhscdd This is an RSS feed that displays a list of accepted nominations. info@thewowawards.co.uk (administrator) Ann Irwin http://www.thewowawardswebs.co.uk/nhscdd/recent_nominations.php Ann is Skin Cancer Nurse Specilist within the Plastics Directorate at University Hospitals of North Durham. I only worked in the organisation for a few months and in the time it is apparent that Ann goes above and beyond for the patients in her care. Her focus is all about the patient experience and it is amazing how one person can such an impact. Ann would just say that she is doing her job, but it is more than this and I would like to recognise Ann for her commitment and dedication, but most of all the difference she has made to patients she meets. http://www.thewowawards.co.uk/rss/924 i v team http://www.thewowawardswebs.co.uk/nhscdd/recent_nominations.php I would like to nominate the I V team for outstanding patient care. I have been a patient in uhnd now for several months and at my lowest point in my patient journey the iv team made a massive impact on my care, they offered me constant care, help, hope and support. their outstanding knowledge and compassion has made a massive impact on my life and well being and for this i am truley grateful. http://www.thewowawards.co.uk/rss/886 Kath Egdell http://www.thewowawardswebs.co.uk/nhscdd/recent_nominations.php I would like to nominate Kath Edgell- Senior Staff Counsellor for a WOW award. I accessed the counselling service earlier this year, during a very difficult and stressful time in my family life .My personal aims at this time were to gain support in order to cope with my situation and to remain effective in the workplace. Kath completely surpassed my expectations. I have been truly empowered by Kath’s counselling service and with Kath’s encouragement I have been able to make significant and positive changes in my family life as well as succeeding in achieving ambitious work based activities. Kath’s caring and down to earth approach and high quality counselling skills ensure staff in are guaranteed a top class counselling service. The recent NHS Health and Wellbeing Review has identified that a third of the NHS workforce has moderate to very poor mental health and one of the key priorities of this report is to improve the mental health and wellbeing of NHS staff . The review suggests that happy, healthy staff will lead to improved levels of patient care and satisfaction as well as financial benefits of reduced costs and increased productivity. Counselling services are identified as essential to achieving this aim. Kath Egdell provides excellent counselling services , however these services are required to be discrete and confidential therefore the important job they do in supporting Trust staff is rarely recognised and celebrated. In addition, we need to overcome the barriers that staff have in seeking counselling support in difficult times. Recognising and rewarding Kath’s work will demonstrate that counselling can help and that the Trust is supportive of services which promote staff well-being. I hope that I have convinced you that Kath deserves to be considered for a WOW Award and I am proud that I am able to nominate her for this award. She has made such a difference for me. http://www.thewowawards.co.uk/rss/866 Antoinette Moffa/ Louise Hunter http://www.thewowawardswebs.co.uk/nhscdd/recent_nominations.php I would like to nominate our two Breast Care nurses at UHND; I work with them in the MDT, and I think their work is outstanding and goes above and beyond the call of duty. They provide an excellent standard to patient care and most importantly provide continuity to the service from the patients point of view, as they visit them to provide support and advice in the community. They deserve the highest praise and an awad would be apt. http://www.thewowawards.co.uk/rss/863 Lisa Hudson http://www.thewowawardswebs.co.uk/nhscdd/recent_nominations.php The example of Excellent Customer Service is taken from a letter which was sent to the Director of Nursing by a patient who attended the ophthalmology clinic at DMH. “It was here I met HCA Lisa Hudson. I must admit I was impressed with her conduct from the outset. She informed me that Mr S was not in clinic that day and I would be seen by a member of his team. The doctor I saw said that I really needed to be reviewed by Mr S. When I asked when this would be I was told in three months! I did not know what to do next. Lisa could see that I was upset and took me into a spare room. She was extremely professional in her manner and explained that Mr S was not there that day, but would be in clinic the next day and that she would try and get me seen, making it very clear that she could not guarantee success. I returned home feeling as if someone really cared about me and understood that I was very frightened with the lack of vision I was experiencing and was trying to help. As Lisa had promised she rang me in the morning having arranged with Mr S to see me. I was seen today in the clinic and Lisa was there with me, giving full explanation as to what happened. My appointment was a success as I am now under the care of Mr S. If it had not been for Lisa’s caring attitude I would not have had the appointment I had today.” http://www.thewowawards.co.uk/rss/819 Anu Sinha-Reid http://www.thewowawardswebs.co.uk/nhscdd/recent_nominations.php I would like to nominate my junior colleague, Dr Anu Sinha-Reid for an award for providing a first class service.
