28100. Nelson Ward
I was admitted to a bay that had a variety of dependant and demanding patients at lunch time. I was only in the ward for 24 hours but observered how caring, respectful and happy all the staff were with all the patients and visitors though very pressed for time. This does not adequately describe the atmosphere in the ward which must have been very reassuring for nervous, scared, feeling awful patients and visitors. Nothing was too much trouble.

receintly my husband got brought into sau, and the care she gave to him was exceptional, she made sure he understood everything that was going on and regularly checked in on him to make sure he was ok, she knew everything that was going on with all her patients, and after the doctor came around she poped back to make sure he understood everything that was going to happen and to see if there was any concerns, she knew more than the doctor and when we had to correct something that he had said she sorted it out and made sure that my husband had the right medication to take home with him, so that he wasnt in pain. my husband commented on how good she was, and he doesnt compliment easily. she made everyone feel at ease because of her knowledge and how she explained everything to the patients so that they understood what was happening and what was going to happen, she is a credit to the ward and the hospital. thank you very much sharon

27836. Lee Bousquet
Since my arrival to hospital, Lee has run me around all the various x-ray and scan departments. He is extremely polite and friendly and I was amazed at how many people know him and stopped to say hello, patients and staff alike. Lee even recognised me on the ward as well. He is a real asset to the team.

27837. Infusion Suite
Walking into the infusion centre I felt worried about the treatment I was going to receive but on opening the door I was greeted with smiles and reassurance. I had six hours of treatment and by the time I left I felt I had made many friends and my second appointment was the same smile and laughter and kindness. They all worked as one big happy team and I wish them all luck.

27838. Andy
After having an operation to pin my ankle together which unfortunately became infected I had to have my plaster removed (which was completely stuck to the wound site). Andy was gentle, humourous and absolutely lovely... despite my squeals!! The following week I had to be readmitted as the infection had spread. Whilst visiting his mum who was on the same ward he stopped by to cheer me up on two separate occasions. His cheerful and friendly demeanour and cuddles made a difficult time much easier. A credit to the hospital. Definitely a WOW winner :-)

27841. David Hutchinson
After having an operation to pin my ankle together which unfortunately became infected, I had to have an air cast boot fitted so that my wound could be looked at easily. Following the operation my foot was extremely swollen and painful. Poor David got the job of having to manipulate my foot which was excruciating to move, into the boot. Not only did he make me giggle and get the boot on despite my wimping but he handled my ultra hairy leg in style!!!! Definitely a WOW winner :-) Thanks David xx

Sylvia has been my MS Nurse Specialist for quite a few years, she has seen a steady decline and depression in me over this period. Her help and understanding, the time spent talking to me, never in a rush, she has total dedication to her patients. She goes out of her way to make sure I am receiving all the necessary drugs, that my allowances are all correct. Her kindness even stretches beyond her time at work, as upon the particular visit when I was very down & in a great deal of pain she spotted my pile of ironing, the next day off she had she arrived at my front door with her own posh iron and did the lot!! Shes wonderful!!

We feel that Lee deserves to be given a WOW Award because he goes above and beyond the call of duty. He is always happy and extremely helpful to the general public and patients alike, nothing is ever too much trouble for Lee. He recently set up a collection off his own back for 2 porters who passed away, collecting a large sum of money for their familys. Overall he is a genuinely selfless, kind hearted person who wants to help others and deserves to be recognised for what he does for others.

27884. Trafalgar Ward
I came onto HDU from late afternoon/early morning on monday 15th October. I was treated with such kindness and skill by everyone working from that day until I was transfered to Pembroke on Friday 19th. Nothing was to much trouble for them if they couldnt answer my question they found someone who could. They were all happy and cheerful throughout their shifts. I wish I could have taken them all to the next ward (I feel sure the team there will be as helpful). My thanks to everyone on Trafalgar.
