31605. Florencio Maduli
I would love to nominate Flo as this is the second visit to his ward and I have found him very caring and friendly. No problem was to much for him, and he always has a friendly, smiley disposition. Made my stay a lot easier for me (look after him, you need someone as kind and hardworking as Flo) Thank you.

31606. Nicola Johnston
Nicola was my midwife when I was pregnant, and she was there through all my ups and downs. If it wasn't for Nicola I don't know how I would have coped. She is a person who will go above and beyond for you, she is an asset to the Antenatal at Medway so could you please give her a Wow Award because if anyone deserves it, it is Nicola Johnston. Many thanks.

31608. Surgical Bridging Team
Both nurses who came to my home explained everything, were professional but very friendly. They are obviously highly dedicated and made what was an unsettling time, having never had major surgery before, a lot easier to deal with than I expected. They both were exemplary!

31609. Wakley Ward
I recently had to spend some time on Wakely ward and found all the staff so kind, helpful and reassuring. As a first time patient I had no idea what to expect. I would like to make a special mention about Holly and Keira who were on duty when I arrived. They are a real credit to the ward and hospital and will always have my grateful thanks for putting me at ease. Thank you all for your help.

31610. Interventional Radiology Team
Attended for Interventional procedure, all staff on shift on 20.12.2012 were very friendly, made me feel comfortable and put at ease. Also very informative. Overall a good experience.

31613. Infusion Suite
All the staff nominated above are truly exceptional in their care and needs to all patients (no matter what their requirements). Even when the unit is at full capacity they are always smiling, extremely patient and caring. 5* service with added humour. It is a pleasure knowing them!!

31708. Dot Smith
I would like to nominate Dot Smith for a WOW award, following my birth debrief/birth options meeting with her on Friday 1st March. I've had difficulty coming to terms with a difficult birth experience many years ago and birth options for the child I am currently pregnant with. Dot took me through my first birth experience hour by hour and set many demons to rest. I feel that I can finally put my issues to bed. She's also given me the courage to face the birth of this child with a fresh outlook and renewed courage. She made an emotional minefield much clearer and I feel that I can now enjoy the rest of my pregnancy. She took lots of time to explain everything to me and help allay my fears. I never felt rushed or pressured into anything and she was very happy to answer the multitide of queries and concerns that I had. I can't thank her enough for the support she's provided me with, telling me that I could contact her again should I need to. She's totally changed my outlook on the birth process for this child and for that I can't thank her enough. Fiona Mongine

31737. Teresa Tower
I would like to nominate Sister Teresa Towers for a Wow! award. Teresa is a positive role model to staff on the ward. I think that she should be nominated for the award because of small acts of kindness that amaze me. One example, occurred on the 28 February 2013, although Teresa may be busy, such as during afternoon visiting times with multiple discharges, she has time to welcome visitor's on the ward and direct them to where the relevant patient is. Teresa stands out, because others may be inclined to write their notes at the nursing station rather than look up and welcome Visitors. Teresa is very observant and acts quickly, such as on 4 March, when referring a patient to a Doctor if there is a deterioration in the patients condition, such as suspected DVT. Teresa always arrives early and leaves late on her shift, I think that Teresa demonstrates the six values of nursing introduced by Jane Cummings, and takes pride in her work.

31510. Nadine Ornsby
My son has liver and kidney disease and Nadine has helped monitor my son's condition when I had no support locally from my GP. Nadine and her team are invaluable for parents in my position where their children are under the care of London hospitals but need essential monitoring frequently and trips to London are not convenient or financially viable. Nadine has the most amazing way with children and my son always enjoyed seeing her. She gave me support emotionally and had some great advice. I felt compelled to write this because I am so grateful for her help at a difficult time in our lives.

31519. McCulloch Ward
I would like to nominate all the day and night staff on McCulloch Ward. They all work very hard, sometimes with only few staff, and they helped me on the road to recovery.

31520. Ola
Thank you Ola for all you did for me, you have been a very kind nurse. Thank you for keeping me saine. I think you will make a great nurse, and a lot of people happy and feel so relaxed, all down to you. Thank you, you will go far in your job.

31522. Grace Rose
This person is a people's person very friendly, supportive and interested in you as a person not a patient. This person remembered the last time I attended the hip class one year ago and was delighted to see my name on her register this year as I have to have another hip replacement in a few weeks time. A well deserved candidate for the award.

31523. Shirley
Has huge empathy for her patients and knows how they are feeling. She goes the extra mile to make you feel safe and cared for, with nothing too much trouble. I could not ask for better care or someone looking out to make sure I am ok. It's nice to be made to feel like a person with individual needs, rather than someone just going through the 'sausage' process of getting better.

31524. Patience
I have recently visited the infusion unit for Rituximab infusion. As this was my first visit I was very nervous but Patience and her team were very caring and understood how I felt and I was quickly put at ease, so that on my second infusion I was much less nervous. While I was there on both occasions I was looked after very well, fed and watered and never left to wonder what would happen next because I was kept up to date all the time. Thank you Patience and her team very much.

31525. Plaster room team
I sustained a fracture to my wrist on the 31st December 2012 and received excellent care in the A and E department. Since then I have attended the fracture clinic three times and have again been very well taken care of. However I must mention that team in the Plaster area, Wow! I cannot recall witnessing such care and extreme patience, not just to me, but every patient I saw enter their room. Many thanks, well done Andy, David and All.

31550. kelly
What an amazing lady, I hardly saw the day nurses but kelly was always there quick as a flash with a smile when u needed her. She has an ability to calm down any situation and seems to know 100 per cent what she is talking about. If it wasn't for her I would have found my time in hospital much harder than I did

31454. Darren Little
Darren has been completing my infusions for 7 months now. I just thought he is so cheerful and always has time to find out how I am. My wife was really pleased as Darren gets on and gets things done. I was falling over a lot at home. In a few minutes Darren printed out details of a falls clinic I could attend. Another time we read about FES and wondered if it would benefit me. He straight away printed details and contacted the physiotherapist for a referal I then tried the machine there and found it didn't work - this saved me £1-2k! He goes above and beyond.

31456. Shakila Gill
On 28th November 2012, I attended hospital for an endoscopy procedure. My request was for sedation to be administered. Four members of staff tried in vain to insert the needle to allow the anaesthetic to be administered, I had to wait so as to not delay the next patient. Staff nurse Shakila assured me she could do it which she did on her first attempt with no difficulty. To my mind she should be rewarded for her action on that day and called upon more often. I was so pleased with her above the call of normal duty.

31457. POCU
I can set this down as the following: A) Friendliness and professionalism of staff B) Ability to take time to explain and update progress C) The team showed great efficiency during what to me was more patients than staff, a credit to the department

31436. David Hutchinson
My daughter broke her arm badly and is only 3, never been to hospital before and was very scared. David made her feel at ease. He spent at least 15 minutes playing, showing her the plaster room to put her at ease. He even let her watch cbeebies. By the end she didn't want to leave! I can't explain enough how fantastic he was. He did a fantastic job and went above and beyond his duties. He also calmed me down and explained everything to me, I was more uspet than my daughter! He even made me a cup of tea! My daughter can't wait to go back to see him for a new cast!

31438. Pre-Op, Surgical and Post Op
I would like to nominate the above teams for the award. Three people stood out among these fantastic people; Mr Prasad (surgeon) - Surgery was second to none Florencio Maduli (Pembroke) - Cheerful, helpful Pat - Tea and toast lady, full of fun and humour

31445. Galton Day Unit
I would like to nominate this team of wonderful people because of the time and effort that they put in for each and every patient. They are so kind and caring and they make you feel relaxed while you are having treatment. They all pull together and help one another out, even the ladies at reception, its like being in a different world. I am still having treatment for breast cancer, which ends in April and I must admit I am going to miss them all. Over the past year I have sat and watched them work hard and have lunch late, all because of the fantastic job they do. They are a fantastic team and we have had some laughs along the way. I will miss them all. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You all deserve a gold medal in my eye's WOW!
