27221. Teresa
Apart from Her dedication to do her duty, always had a smile for us patients However trying we got,and deftly cleaver at her job. However, upon my discharge Home from the ward ; I very soon realized that I had forgotten to organize a Urine Bottle for home and that the toilet being upstairs was gr8 at night but not in the day having phoned my Gp and told you can get them from Boots I explained that I had no one who could get them for me was told it was not there problem...In desperation i phone Pembroke wd and spoke to SN Teresa. explaining my situation, without hesitation She checked my details and on completion of her duty she drove home picked up her Satnav ( Her Husband of only 6 weeks ) and drove 6 miles to deliver a bottle, THAT WAS GOING 5 TIMES THE EXTRA MILE FOR ME Just another patient. GOD bless Her she is an exceptional nurse ans we are Proud she is working at the Medway......Peter Tanner

27375. Debbie Small
I would like to nominate Debbie for her outstanding dedication to her job. She delivered our first born nearly 9 years ago and we were very lucky to have her again last week 23rd October 2012, to deliver our 4th. Unfortunately 7 years ago we had a stillborn so I went into hospital to be induced, she explained everything to us and was very reassuring that everything was going to be ok, she had a fantastic bedside manner and always made sure we were ok. My husband suffers from anxiety due to our stillborn which Debbie was very quick to pick up on. Most people forget about the dads but she helped me by helping him too. She work wonders and nothing was ever too much for her during the day of my induction, considering my previous notes had been lost she was still able help us without all the information she needed. Having a stillborn so late in pregnancy is something I wouldnt wish on anyone, if it wasnt for Debbie I dont think we would have got through such a hard day, Debbie finished her shift at 8pm and missed the delivery of our beautiful baby girl who arrived safely at 9.05pm, I so wanted her to be there but with the encouragement she gave us and the support and the kind words to say before she handed us over to another lovely midwife (ann) she went beyond her duty that day. I just wished I could have delivered quicker, so we could have shared our joy with Debbie.

27380. EMMA HAWKINS
While on a run of night shifts on BCCU I came across Emma scrubbing the stairwell at the side of AMU. Emma was on her hands and knees using a brillo pad to clean every inch of brown zones staircase. Her hard work has made a huge difference and the stairs now look amazing. When I asked Emma whos idea it was she replied"I wanted to do this,it will look nice and clean for patients and staff". I think she is a credit to the housekeeping team and deserves recognition for her hard work.

27448. Jacky
I would like to nominate Jacky. I attended the Sunderland day care center on Tue 30 Nov 2012 in the morning, and Jacky was assigned to be my nurse. Obviously I was very nervous about having an operation, but as soon as I met her she relaxed me by her calm, polite and professional manner and the way she conducted herself. I did not feel I was in a hospital and she even accompanied me to the operating theatre, and was there when I came round. Its hard to describe the way she made me feel all the time I was there right up to my leaving. A very very good experience.

27187. Tennyson Ward
This ward is incredibley well run, the entire staff work so well as a team! This is my second visit of another two weeks visiting most of the day with my mother. I live in America and used to private hospitals, but the care, kindness and cleanliness of this ward is exemploary, a tight well run ship to be precise. Well done!!

27188. Wendy Chivers, Kay McKenzie
6.10.12 Arrived at reception at 7.20am feeling tired and somewhat anxious at the thought of the operation ahead. Greeted by two smiling faces and happy individuals, which immediately raised my spirit and made the next half an hour or so a happy experience. I am now feeling very positive about the rest of my stay in hospital.

27191. Rhea Cosico
A hospital is judged by its staff as much as anything. I found them to be 95% above reproach. As in any night sky one star is always brightest, Nurse Rhea Cosico - so thoughtful, caring and kind that my vocabulary fails me.

27177. Rosie Woolman & Ligaya (Joy) Regala
Both nurses displayed a caring, kind, professional attitude. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They responded to the buzz quickly and with a smile. They were informative when asked a question regarding an operation. All the staff were brilliant but the two nurses above were outstanding. Thank you.

27178. Cathie Beare & Sarah Vickery The Bridging Surgical Care Team
After my recent radical nephrectomy and rapid discharge, I felt very vulnerable and confused. However I needn’t have worried. The two nurses in this team appeared the morning after discharge (complete with medication) to allay any worries. They checked my stitches, showed me the best way to administer the necessary daily injections with least bruising possible and coached me with breathing exercises. They reassured me I could call on them daily for the immediate future (luckily I didn’t need to) and finally they removed my staples with gentle care and compassion. These two angels helped me greatly through a traumatic time. I say WOW and THANK YOU!!
