I have been in hospital before and it was horrible. When I was admitted to Will Adams ward, I was again confronted with lots of older immobile ladies around me and some even suffered from dementia. As the youngest by around 40 years I found this situation hard. However, seeing Mel each morning not only brightened my day, but all the lovely old ladies around me. They came alive in her presence. Her work was efficient and competent, but she really took time to talk and listen to all her patients. Her Italian accent was thick, but her way of speaking allowed them to all hear her and understand her. She cared about the little things, like moving the food bowls closer to the patients who were hard of sight, and explaining where all the cutlery etc were. She turned the beds down as the patients liked, and never patronised anyone in her tone or actions. Her positive glow and funny personality helped us all through some difficult times, plus cuddles along the way helped too. Without her and also many other wonderful staff on Will Adams ward, I am sure that these older ladies would not have improved in health and wellbeing as quickly as they did within the week I was there. I also thank her for my speedy recovery too!

33042. Ann Friend (A Friend)
I'd like to thank all the nurses that tended mum along with the cleaning/dinner staff for their care and support through a difficult time for both my Father and me. Mum was in for a few weeks where we were there daily and unfortunately passed away recently. Over this period mum was looked after with the utmost care and their invaluable support, thoughtfulness and kindness will stay with us forever. This has gone a long way to help heal the hurt we feel. Ann runs a wonderful ward that is a credit to her and needs to be recognised, and she is indeed A Friend. Without their support it would have been far more difficult to get through our sad time. Even if this does not get them an award can you please pass on my sincere gratitude for the kidness shown to me, my father and family along with the special care and attention given to mum in her final days. Many Thanks, Doug Smith

33046. Mandy Robinson
After some tragic news my Father (Richard) became ill and was taken into Hospital by ambulance on Sunday the 7th April. After spending nearly 2 days Dad was released into the care of H@H as he wanted to be out for the funeral of Mum which was on the 11th April. Although all staff from the paramedics, A&E and Gundolph were excellent, caring and attentive it was Mandy who stood out with her calm, tactile, caring and unassuming manner when visiting my Dad daily. She always took the time to explain everything that was being done and what would be the next steps. Her professionalism and undoubted knowledge along with her warm sensitive manner made this unfortunate experience more bearable. Even if this does not get Mandy an award can you please pass on our sincere gratitude for the first class treatment and kidness shown to my father. Many Thanks, Doug Smith

I recently found myself needing to be treated for narrowing of the arteries in my right leg. My G.P. referred me to Medway Maritime Hospital's Interventional Radiology department for tests and advice on possible intervention. Following Ultrasound Scans it was decided that I may need a Stent. A pre-assessment was arranged for me to discuss the procedure and answer any questions I had. A date was arranged for the procedure there and then which really amazed and impressed me considering the well publicised pressure on the NHS. From the moment I arrived for the surgery I was greeted by a group of the warmest and friendliest people I have ever met and was immediately put at ease by their care and understanding. After being prepared the consultant explained the procedure and possible risks before signing the consent form. During the entire operation I was kept fully informed of what was happening by a kind nurse and theater sister whilst listening for instructions from the surgeon. The professionalism shown throughout by all the staff, in theater and in recovery, was without exception and made me feel relaxed and assured of the best treatment available. It's never nice to be ill and even worse to be ill enough to be in hospital but it was almost worth being unwell just to be in the caring hands of such wonderful people. Outstanding, caring and extremely professional. Thank you.

Also Maria Espinosa, Remi Kosinki I came to your cath lab on 15-04-13 and received outstanding treatment the service provided was one that Medway Nhs should be proud of over the past few years I have been a patient of Medway and King college London. However this particular team made me feel safe and reasured at all times just wanted to say that the ward was spotless the staff were forever cleaning their hands and catered to anything I needed. On perpetration for my procedure I was very anxious although I have had similar procedures at Kings. The staff made it seamless and I felt reasured just being there with them. Please thank them from both me and my husband and let hem know its not a thankless task they do we were so great full . thank you, thank you It's also amazing hat out of the thousands of patient seen some of the nurses from the nuclear heart scan and paid chest pain clinic remembered me from previous visits. Medway is a local hospital to be proud of. Thank You

I have never before had a nurse that goes out of her way to help you. She is so friendly and can not do enough to help and make you as comfy as you can be. All hospitals need more nurses like her.

I have a hearing aid and on Friday 12th April it seemed not to be working. I rely very much on my aid for work and social purposes - I am lost without it. I rang the audilogy dept who whilst they could not give me an appointment agreed that I could come to the department towards the end of the afternon and one of the audiologists would see me. I arrived at just before 4pm and within 15 minutes Rebecca saw me. Her attitude and approach was excellent; professional, compassionate and efficient. She dealt with my issues, listened carefully, liaised with colleagues as required and made sure I was happy with what she was doing. I would like to nominate Rebecca for an award as a sincere thank you to her

I have just come back from an appointment at ENT and would like to nominate them for a WOW award. I have been attending appointments for some time however these are usually at the Memorial Hospital in Sittingbourne. Today was my first appointment at Medway and they certainly provided a first class patient experience. The lady at reception was very friendly and also had to deal with a challenging patient which i feel she did in a very professional manner. I was waiting to see Mr Lim and he was running half an hour late (which I can understand as whilst I was there a number of patients turned up late) but the waiting area were kept informed and a Nurse apologised when she updated the boards. I was then called for a hearing test and the lady that carried this out was very caring and friendly. She noticed that I was wearing an engagement ring and started asking about my wedding plans which I thought was lovely for her to notice and take an interest in. I went back to the waiting room and was then called by a Nurse who apologised for the wait. I saw Mr Lim who is always happy and professional and then on my way out the receptionist happily offered to take my forms and the Nurse who called me in said goodbye. I wish I had got the names of the staff who I saw - a brilliant patient experience - Thank you!

The entire staff show great care and compassion and go a long way above and beyond any of the WOW! criteria. I really trusted all of them to do anything that was required to ensure my treatment and subsequent discharge went exactly as I would have liked it to. I could not have got better treatment in a private hospital.
